Top 10 Non-Celebrity Korean Instagrams

Top 10 Non-Celebrity Korean Instagrams

After Facebook, Instagram is the next most popular social media platform in Korea. While many Korean celebrities have millions of followers on their profiles, it doesn’t show the true life and diversity of young people today. The following Instagram accounts are from normal citizens who have gained internet fame through their pictures. I have selected exclusively Koreans based in Korea, which show their lives in this country (professional mainstream models have been excluded). This list could have been endless as there are hundreds of great accounts, however these are a few of the most buzzing Korean Instagrammers right now.

(The following statistics taken from 2016 May)

@sora_pppp (642K)

Park Sora is the queen of online modelling. Although she isn’t a professional model due to her height, she has become internet famous as the face of Stylenanda; the hottest online shopping brand since 2004. Stylenanda can attribute some of their success to her. Her account consists of mostly selfies and some photos of her day to day life. She is known for her makeup glamour shots and bubbly style.

@1room1cat (210K)

One room one cat originally started when the owner started taking pictures of her pet cat Toto (grey). She then slowly expanded the family with Siho (white and grey) and Gimo (black). Gimo, the youngest black kitten the account has made the account internationally popular and has been featured in both Korean and Western magazines. The cosy minimalist décor of the room and the cute cat pictures are adorable and sweet.

@prince_han (142K)

Han Jinho (한진호) is a popular ulzzang who is known for his selfies. He was featured on a cable TV show and revealed that he majorly alters his pictures with photoshop, but recently he underwent numerous surgeries to achieve his desired look. Nearly every photo on his account is a selfie, and his followers seem to be at awe of his perfect and artificial aesthetic. Although he isn’t a professional model, he does post occasional photoshoots and he experiments with makeup, fashion and hair colour frequently to keep his feed interesting.

@greedeat (269K)

This is the Instagram account of the popular ‘What Should I Eat Today’ (오늘뭐먹지? ) Facebook page. This food Instagram documents delicious mouthwatering meals, drinks and snack in Korea. They recommend hot new restaurants, food trends and seasonal specials. It also posts short cooking videos and videos of the food being prepared. Every foodie in Korea should be following this account.

@haneulina (335K)

Haneul (하늘) meaning ‘sky’ in Korean, is the definition of an Instagram Star right now. Her soft and dreamy photos are trending on the Korean web. Most of her Instagram pictures are from photo shoots of her posing in lingerie or swimsuits from her own brand. She also posts occasional casual daily pictures with her pets and when she is on holiday.

@seoul_stateofmind (142K)

Photographer Ken Lum Lee captures Seoul’s urban and rural beauty gorgeously with a dreamy monotone palette. Many people admire Korea’s traditional historical destinations, but rarely do they appreciate the elegance of Seoul city’s modernity. His travels with his camera has created a stunning feed, which covers a variety of places in Korea and all over the world. He runs a photography blog, where you can view more of his pictures.

@92_hyungseok (211K)

While Instagram is popular, few male users upload their own photos. Internet Ulzzang Park HyungSuk (박형석) is growing a following, not for his selfies but for his photography. He chooses a hazy and simple aesthetic over beauty selfie shots, which has peaked interest amongst Korean netizens.

@luvmabin (60K)

Korean babies are undeniably cute, with their fat cheeks and whispy black hair. Cho Woo Bin is one of the many Korean baby Instagram accounts, where mothers post adorable pictures of their precious bundle of joy. This little boy has perfect skin and humongous black pupils. The mother uploads daily pictures and video clips of him wearing adorable cute outfits and doing aegyo.

@congpilates (178k)

Congpilates is a fitness trainer. Naver blogger, youtuber and now famous Instagrammer. Her Instagram consists of many instructional videos that teach quick yoga and pilates work outs. Her Instagram feed mostly consists of workout selfies, work out wear photo shoots and diet food. If you need a way to stay motivated, follow her!

@yebin_dobin_wowhahaha (401K)

Follow the daily lives of a little girl called Yebin, and her younger brother Dobin. While the little boy is cute, the main reason for the Instagrams popularity is Yebin, the girl who was in a viral video (watch it here) where she is being taught the lessons of stranger danger. She is extremely cute, with huge eyes and bright smile, but it is her wacky and hyper personality that makes her special. Their parents also record their lives on their blog.

    An intriguing discussion is worth comment. I believe that you should publish more on this
    subject, it might not be a taboo matter but generally folks don’t speak
    about such subjects. To the next! Cheers!!
